Does mediasoup support HEVC/H.265?

I want to use mediasoup as a SFU through plain rtp transports for H.265 video meetings.

Does mediasoup support HEVC/H.265?

We write docs for something:

@ibc I’m pretty sure every person coming here already checked the docs. Not everyone is a knowledgeable about the mediasoup webrtc video tech stack as you, so please enlighten us and give some advice to that question. Many people will arrive at this thread via google.

I literally posted the link to the documentation in which supported codecs are listed. Unclear how someone that reads the documentation cannot read it.

I see, you can read Stack Overflows take on that:

They basically say to provide enough detail to fully answer the question and to not just direct somewhere else. Use external links only as supplementary references. Avoid link-only answers, as they become useless if the external site is down or the page is moved. Also, such answers aren’t searchable within the platform and by google.

In the context of mediasoup, I think you can even assume that people already saw the documentation and maybe got confused or did not understand. Maybe they are missing some bigger picture like the h265 support by browsers and webrtc in general. A forum answer like this is a perfect chance to sort things like this out.

And last but not least, it’s kinda unfriendly.

While I get your point I promised myself to not convert this forum into a generic WebRTC forum. If others want to contribute to those questions the are welcome but honestly I don’t have time and motivation for that.
